Shooting artwork

July 31, 2011
I say this a lot... "I recently had the pleasure..." which might sound cliched and disingenuous, but I really mean it.  I would rather be doing nothing else than photographing for people.  One of those meetings that I really enjoyed was shooting a home, and later artwork, for a fabulous couple to whom I was referred.  I made two visits to their lovely home, photographed their entire home inside and out, and on a second trip, photographed their artwork.  The artwork is to be sold or donated as...

Model home shoot

July 13, 2011
Recently I had the pleasure of shooting a model home for D. R. Horton in the Mountain House community northwest of Tracy, CA.  This was arranged through Jonathan Wilhelm of Marketshare, Inc.  The model in this gallery is a 2888 sq foot home priced from $359,990.  Go to the slideshow here.  This home was photographed using my HDR process and is a good example of what can be done with HDR.  My HDR process shows the home as it really is... no shadows from the camera flash, shadows in the picture...

This has nothing to do with houses...

June 5, 2011
This is a bit off-topic.  But being a lifelong baseball fan, I was impressed by this photographers' "art."  Well, I have a few baseballs in similar condition lying around (definitely been loved) and decided to make something similar...

"I just got a new camera, I can take photos just like you"

May 28, 2011
Are good photos made by the camera... or the photographer?

It's true... agents who have DSLRs can take good photos, no doubt about it.  They can create a good business by taking their own photos.  But are they a good use of the marketing spend?  Is it a good use of their time to shoot a listing, post-process the photos, and struggle to make them look their best?

Great photos are not the result of an expensive camera or popular lens.  It's the photographer.

I enjoy taking photos... it's my passio...

Habitat Forming

February 6, 2011
This week I spent a day playing working on two Habitat for Humanity homes.  Six homes are being built for needy families off Cory Road in Morgan Hill, and volunteers are always needed.  Corporate groups and individuals can donate time by visiting the Habitat Silicon Valley web site, and clicking Volunteer Now on the left side.  Hopefully I'll be able to photograph these homes when they are completed this summer!  (hint hint)  More photos from that day here.

Fun Day at Mark Leet Photography

January 16, 2011

I'm always trying to learn new things... especially in the photography world.  A friend David LaMar suggested I hook up with a neighbor of his, Mark Leet, who owns and runs a successful photography studio in San Francisco.  I've been in studios like Mark's but not in some 25 years, and certainly not where I could assist with the shoot.  This was a shoot for a data storage company in the South Bay, shooting models in front of a white backdrop, who would be inserted in product shots, ultimately...

Interior Design

July 10, 2010
Recently I had the pleasure of shooting for Idit Deutsch, an interior designer at Artissimo Interior Design of Cupertino.  She has a unique, colorful vision which you can see in my new gallery, Design/Staging.  My style in shooting for designers is to shoot both wide and tight for various reasons, and Idit's design provided some interesting challenges.  Enjoy the images, and give Idit a call for your interior design and staging needs.
